The Vulcans can keep their gear, as they are the newly created patrol. If you have any questions, call Mr. Ramienski (570-1743). Brookeville Observatory Mr. Whit Athey spoke to us while we were collecting for Relay for Life and said has a domed observatory in Brookville. He has invited scouts to visit and look through his 10-inch telescope. He can handle patrol-sized groups. If you are interested, please contact him at (301)570-0923. Communicate! Communicate! Communicate! Communicating is the key to having a successful troop, especially a troop of our size. Recently information has not been getting back to the organizing people of an event or outing. The problems have been getting the counts of the patrols back to the person in charge of the activity. Without an exact count: * Reservations cannot be accurate and many sites are limited in size. * We end up with too much/too little food, tents, gear, etc. * It is unfair to the organizer of the event who is doing a lot of work for your benefit. * Scouts might not be able to go, if we do not know their intentions. The proper way to get information back to the organizer is as follows: * The SPL will announce the event at the TLC * The patrol leaders will go back to their patrol - announce the event(s) and head count date(s) - get an exact count of scouts and scouters, by the head count date. - get head count back to the SPL - SPL will get the count to the Organizer/Mr. Began. A little more effort on the part of all, will insure smoother running activities for our troop. ***REMINDER**" All Blue Cards must to turned into Mrs. Holland by Monday, June 7, 1999 to insure receiving of your Merit Badges at the Court of Honor on June 14, 1999.
